Tips to help you reduce wedding stress

Tips to help you reduce wedding stress

  • Sit down with your fiancé and family involved in the planning of your wedding.  Have each person involved in the process create a top 5 priority list for what is most important to them for your wedding. Once everyone is done, sit down and compare your lists and make one priority list that everyone agrees on. This will help you to all stay on the same page, and will help you break down your budget by what is most important to you.
  • Once you have your budget and priorities set stick to them.
  • Start DYI projects early. Procrastination can cause you more stress than anything. You don’t want to wait until the week before your wedding to do things like assign tables or finish place cards. Get those things done early so you have plenty of time to make adjustments if needed.
  • Exercise it is a positive, healthy instant stress reliever.
  • Eat right and take care of yourself.
  • Do things you did before you got engaged. When you start to feel overwhelmed or stressed. Do something that you enjoy that is not wedding related.
  • Keep your prospective. When you start to feel over whelmed take a deep breath and remember why you are getting married. It is about you and your fiancé and your love for each other. All the other little things are just that, little things. Enjoy them, you will only go through this process once and it goes very quickly. So savor every experience.
  • Spend time with your fiancé and don’t talk about the wedding plans. Take a break from the planning and spend time nurturing your relationship. Do something fun, go on date nights, spend time with your friends, don’t focus all of your free time on the wedding.
  • Don’t be afraid to accept help offered by your friends and family. It is a great way to get things off your plate and help them to feel included.
  • Create a wedding website or phone app to direct all of your guests to. This is an easy way to keep people informed and organized especially for a destination wedding. “The Knot” and “Wedding Wire” are my favorite sites.
  • Make a wedding binder and stay organized.  It will be very helpful to you to have all of the wedding info together in one spot.
  • Join a fun planning site like Pinterest. This is a fun creative place to keep all of your wedding visions together. And will make it easy for you to share your vision with friends, family and your wedding vendors.
  • Stay stay true to who you are and who you and your fiancé are as a couple.  Incorporate your personality and lifestyle into your wedding. This day is about you and your love, don’t loose sight of that.
